…one man's contribution to the Weeeeerly Wild World
It was over a year ago that I criticised PayPal on this here blog for having an annoying video playing in the background of their homepage. It was annoying because it was distracting from a user’s purpose of logging in to get a task done, whether it be to check your balance, a transaction or make a payment, or whatever useful thing you need to log in to your PayPal for.
Thankfully PayPal has done away with this annoyance in the current iteration of their homepage and there is only a static image there now (which is still unnecessary in my opinion)… sadly no simple log in box on the home page (users are still required to click ‘Log in’ first, but it’s better.
Then in October I criticised PayPal for both treating me like a child and still interrupting my login process with a “spalsh screen” drawn in a ‘childish’ fashion.
Now they have the audacity to preach to me about how “time waiting isn’t wasted” before I can ‘Proceed to Account Overview’!
“I don’t care about ‘Where To Shop’… I know where I want to shop, and right now I want to just look-see if someone has paid me some money they owe me… remember, I’m logging in with a purpose in mind, not to be distracted by your ‘come look at this while you’re here’ attitude…”
